Why I Came to Japan
Actually, the reason why I came to Japan was not that complicated.
I just wanted to try living in a different place.
Before coming to Japan, I had been living in Malaysia for many years. Everything was familiar to me: the language, the food, the culture, the people, and the way of life. It was comfortable, but at the same time, I felt like I wanted to see something different.
I wanted to know what would happen if I put myself in a completely new environment.
Japan was not an easy choice. The language is different, the culture is different, and even small things in daily life can be confusing at the beginning. Things like going to the city office, opening a bank account, renting a room, or even understanding how people communicate took time for me to get used to.
But I think that was also the point.
I did not come to Japan only because I wanted to study. I came here because I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to experience a different culture, meet different people, and understand how life works in another country.
After coming here, I realized that studying abroad is not always as exciting as people imagine. Sometimes it is tiring. Sometimes it is lonely. Sometimes you have to solve problems by yourself even when you do not fully understand what is going on.
But these small daily struggles also became part of my growth.
I learned how to live alone, how to communicate better, how to ask for help, and how to keep moving even when things are not smooth. I also met people with very different backgrounds, and that made me think more about what kind of person I want to become in the future.
For me, coming to Japan was not a perfect or dramatic story. It was more like a personal challenge.
I wanted to leave a familiar place, try a different life, and see how much I could grow from that experience.
And even when things were difficult, I kept pushing myself and kept going.
